Jewish Center of the Hamptons is proud to present an extraordinary morning of conversation examining the intersection of architecture, design, Jewish identity, and community. The program will feature acclaimed architect Richard Dattner, FAIA, renowned interior designer Timothy Godbold, and architect Adam Harris of Bates Masi + Architects.
Together, these distinguished design professionals will explore how architecture reflects Jewish memory, resilience, and identity—and how thoughtful design can create spaces that foster connection, purpose, and the enduring value of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world).
Richard Dattner, founder of Dattner Architects, is one of America’s most celebrated civic architects. For more than six decades, his award-winning work has shaped public spaces across the country. A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who also studied at London’s Architectural Association, Dattner has taught at Cooper Union, City College of New York, and the University of Wisconsin. He is the recipient of the AIA New York Chapter Medal of Honor and the American Institute of Architects’ Thomas Jefferson Award, recognizing his lifelong contributions to public architecture. He is also the author of Design for Play and Civil Architecture: The New Public Infrastructure.
Joining him is internationally recognized interior designer Timothy Godbold, whose work is celebrated for blending historical influences with contemporary vision. Originally from Australia, Godbold has designed residences ranging from historic restorations to innovative new homes and has been featured in The New York Times, Luxe Interiors + Design, Elle, Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, and numerous other leading publications. As a board member of the nonprofit Hamptons 20th Century Modern, he is deeply committed to preserving the East End’s rich modernist architectural heritage.
Representing the next generation of architectural leadership is Adam Harris of the acclaimed East Hampton firm Bates Masi + Architects. Harris works on award-winning residential projects that thoughtfully integrate architecture with the natural landscape, craftsmanship, and the unique character of the Hamptons. His work reflects a deep appreciation for modern architecture and the role thoughtful design plays in strengthening communities.
Together, these three distinguished voices will offer a compelling discussion on how architecture serves not only as shelter, but as a powerful expression of culture, history, values, and belonging. From civic spaces and modern homes to sacred places of gathering, the conversation will highlight the enduring influence of design in shaping both individual lives and collective identity.
