Torah Study with Guest Rabbis Tara & Meir Feldman
November 2 @ 12:00 pm
Parshat Noah: Destruction and Rebirth
What have we learned since October 7th? What can we reimagine? We read in parashat Noah, “The earth was filled with hamas (violence/lawlessness)” Genesis 6:13
In the present-day flood of anti-Israel and antisemitic sentiment, how can we respond, authentically, from our own lived experience and with the truths at the core of our history and identity as Jews? How can we emerge from this moment of loss able to rebuild and to envision a renewed covenant?
Dive deep into the weekly Torah portion. Come for just one, or come for every one, each week we begin anew in our study of Torah through an array of perspective, commentaries, and opinion.

Present Work
Together, Tara and Meir lead Friends of Sia’h Shalom. Sia’h Shalom is an organization focused on facilitating experiences of dialogue and encounter, of speaking and listening across polarizing differences. Since the massacre of October 7th, and in the face of rising antisemitism, the Jewish people’s need to listen deeply to one another, has never been more urgent. Friends of Sia’h Shalom seeks to address the critically important challenge of rebuilding a healing and unifying connection between North American Jewry and Israel. For Sia’h Shalom, this means reaching towards a collective identity that is based on respect and dignity, an internal shleimut (wholeness), and connection. Strengthening the bonds of connection between Jews of all kinds is the driving purpose and the goal of Friends of Sia’h Shalom.

Meir was ordained in 2003. His previous pulpits include: B’nai Jershurun “BJ” in Manhattan, New York and Temple Israel in Memphis, Tennessee. Before discovering his passion for Jewish life and learning, Meir was an associate at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, in their NYC and Los Angeles offices and also worked as an Assistant United States Attorney in Los Angeles. Meir’s path to vibrant Jewish life began with time on ski slopes and scuba diving in various breath-taking spots. For Meir, all aspects of his life’s journey from teaching tennis to Israeli children when he was a teen, to his life in the legal world, to his years working as a congregational rabbi have led to the path of moving to Israel.
Both Rabbis Tara and Meir are Rabbis Emeriti of Temple Beth-El of Great Neck, New York where they served for 13 years as co-senior rabbis. They now live in Jerusalem Israel with their son and daughter.
