Rabbi Gilad Kariv
Rabbi Gilad Kariv is a Member of the Israeli Knesset representing the Labor Party and the first Reform Rabbi to serve in Parliament. He chairs the Committee for Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs and serves on the Law and Constitution and Budget Committees. A strong advocate for democracy and pluralism, he has led opposition efforts against the government’s proposed judicial overhaul. More >
Before entering politics, Rabbi Kariv was President and CEO of the Israel Movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism, expanding its national presence significantly. He previously held senior roles at the Israel Religious Action Center and has been active in promoting religious freedom and civil rights in Israel.
An alumnus of the IDF’s elite Talpiot program, Rabbi Kariv holds degrees in law and Jewish philosophy from Hebrew University and an LLM from Northwestern University. He was ordained at Hebrew Union College in 2003. Rabbi Kariv lives in Givatayim with his wife Noa and their three children. < Less
