Shabbat Evening Service with Rabbis Tara & Meir Feldman

November 1 @ 6:00 pm

Reclaiming Zionism, the Word and the Wonder
The word “Zionism” has been twisted and poisoned, becoming our enemies’ most potent and powerful weapon. With honesty about our own experiences, questions and convictions, the moment is now for us, as Jews, wherever we may live, to lean into the “Z word” as a means for deepening encounter and as a source of healing, inspiration, purpose and hope.

Shabbat Evening Service
Each week we are given the sacred gift of Shabbat. A time to rejoice in our homes with our synagogue family. Join us as we welcome Shabbat with song and prayer.

In-person & Virtual

Photo ID is required for entrance to Jewish Center of the Hamptons.
All in-person services are reserved for members and their pre-registered guests.

Present Work
Together, Tara and Meir lead Friends of Sia’h Shalom. Sia’h Shalom is an organization focused on facilitating experiences of dialogue and encounter, of speaking and listening across polarizing differences. Since the massacre of October 7th, and in the face of rising antisemitism, the Jewish people’s need to listen deeply to one another, has never been more urgent. Friends of Sia’h Shalom seeks to address the critically important challenge of rebuilding a healing and unifying connection between North American Jewry and Israel. For Sia’h Shalom, this means reaching towards a collective identity that is based on respect and dignity, an internal shleimut (wholeness), and connection. Strengthening the bonds of connection between Jews of all kinds is the driving purpose and the goal of Friends of Sia’h Shalom.

Rabbi Tara Feldman
Tara was ordained by Hebrew Union College in 2001. Her previous pulpits include: Congregation Beth Elohim in Brooklyn, New York and Temple Israel in Memphis, Tennessee. Rabbi Feldman received her B.A. in Russian Language and Literature from Vassar College and a Masters in Elementary Education from Lesley College. Her passions include yoga, meditation, storytelling and environmental activism. She is co-author of the book, Into a Jewish Holiday Year with Yoga: a Workbook and Guided Journey for Body Mind and Soul.

Rabbi Meir Feldman
Meir was ordained in 2003. His previous pulpits include: B’nai Jershurun “BJ” in Manhattan, New York and Temple Israel in Memphis, Tennessee. Before discovering his passion for Jewish life and learning, Meir was an associate at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, in their NYC and Los Angeles offices and also worked as an Assistant United States Attorney in Los Angeles. Meir’s path to vibrant Jewish life began with time on ski slopes and scuba diving in various breath-taking spots. For Meir, all aspects of his life’s journey from teaching tennis to Israeli children when he was a teen, to his life in the legal world, to his years working as a congregational rabbi have led to the path of moving to Israel.

Both Rabbis Tara and Meir are Rabbis Emeriti of Temple Beth-El of Great Neck, New York where they served for 13 years as co-senior rabbis. They now live in Jerusalem Israel with their son and daughter.
