Tisha B’Av, or the 9th of the month of Av, marks the day that Babylonians destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem (586 BCE), and it has become a day that has also represented the subsequent destructions that have befallen the Jewish people, including the destruction of the 2nd Temple, the expulsion of Jews from Spain, and the Holocaust. On this melancholy evening, we read the sacred book of Lamentations, a poetic description of the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BCE. Join us for this powerful night of poetry and commemoration.
