Our Annual Summer Luncheon presents a special opportunity to honor outstanding members of our Jewish Center family who have made a lasting impact on our community.

Tisch, New York City Police Commissioner join us as our Distinguished Guest Speaker.

Cantor Debra Stein, Rabbi
Cantor Stein came to the Jewish Center in the summer of 1983 as a student, having just completed her first year of cantorial school at Hebrew Union College, Jewish Institute of Religion, School of Sacred Music. The president of the congregation, Evan Frankel z”l immediately asked her to stay on as the congregation’s student cantor. She has served our congregation with dignity now for forty-two years, next year marking her fortieth year of full-time service as our cantor. More >
In her years, she has become as integral part of both the Jewish Center and the East end community at large. She has served with distinction on the East Hampton Town Ethics Committee, The Hospice Ethics Committee and as president of the Clericus. She has also served on the board of the American Conference of Cantors, as well as other boards and organizations throughout the years.
This year, Cantor Stein joins her colleagues who were among the first females to graduate and be ordained as cantors at the ACC convention, where they will be honored in Washington. < Less
David Gallo
David Gallo became a member of the Jewish Center of the Hamptons in 2014, joined the Board of Trustees in 2018, and is currently an Officer on the Executive Committee, a member of the Finance Committee, and the head of the Investment Committee. In addition to being an active member of the temple, David has hosted various JCOH holiday and learning events targeted towards young members at his family’s homes in New York City and East Hampton. David and his wife Cheryl, both the grandchildren of Holocaust survivors, were married by Rabbi Josh Franklin and Cantor Debi Stein, and Rabbi Franklin performed the Hebrew naming of David and Cheryl’s daughter, Skylar. David has been actively involved in various other Jewish philanthropies including the Jewish Heritage Program (which engages college students who do not normally participate in Jewish communal activities), the Museum of Jewish Heritage (the Holocaust museum in New York), and Natan (a giving circle focused on Jewish causes), where he is a member of the Board of Trustees. David also sits on several other non-profit and for-profit boards. Professionally, David is the Managing Partner and founder of Valinor Management, an investment firm which recently converted into a family office. Prior to founding Valinor, David worked in various other investment firms including Tiger Management, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, and The Blackstone Group. David received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and his MBA from Harvard Business School. < Less
Jessica Tisch
Jessica Tisch was appointed the 48th Police Commissioner of New York City in November 2024. Commissioner Tisch started her career in public service in 2008 serving as an Intelligence Research Specialist in the NYPD’s Counterterrorism Bureau. She was responsible for initiating major protective systems and responses in real time to crime and terrorism. In 2014, Police Commissioner William Braxton appointed her Deputy Commissioner of Information Technology. More >
In November 2019, Mayor Di Blasio appointed Jessica Commissioner of the NYC Department of Information Technology and Telecommunication where she was responsible for NYC’s IT infrastructure, IT standards and guidelines.
Before her appointment as Police Commissioner in 2024, Jessica was the Commissioner of the Department of Sanitation, the largest of its kind in the world where, once again, she was responsible for implementing successful policies and procedure.
Prior to joining the NYPD, Jessica worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of N.Y., the law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz, the Domestic Policy Council of the white House and the Editorial Page of the Wall Street Journal. She holds a B.A. Magna Cum Laude in Government from Harvard, a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School and a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. She is married to Daniel Levine and the mother of two. < Less
